Today's POI is inspired by a video by one of my faverite YouTubers Alexis, aka MimmbleMimmble. Though she doesn't have that big a fanbase, but she's in my top five faverite vloggers. (This is saying something, as I'm now subscribed to 45 channels. Eeep!) So yeah, I reccomend checking out her channel.
Here's the video:
It is so easy to ignore world troubles. We are so cought up in our own little worlds, with our own little worries. And we don't want to think about what's happening in Libya, or the earthquake in New Zealand, or the death and poverty and suffering, because it's hard. And it's okay to admit that, because we're only human. But I think it's important that we step back once in a while, and put everything in perspective, and realise how lucky we really are. That doesn't mean to be always thinking about these things, because even with the best will in the world, that would never be possible. Lives are to be lived, and life goes on. But as Alexis puts it, we are so cought up in our own escapism that sometimes we lose track of what really matters, and what it really is to suffer as we worry about our hair and Justin Beiber and slow internet connections. The world will never be perfect, but the least we can do is acknowledge these imperfections and where possible try and make things right. And it's hard, and at points we will fail, but we must try.
The way I see things, with all problems, big and small, we have a choice- pain or ignorance? Ignorance is the cowards way out, and it's so easy. So easy to just let things fly over our heads and not think about them. I know I do. But sometimes we must choose pain, or else loose sight of what matters, and who we really are.
So which do you choose? Pain or ignorance?
There's only so much time one has to capture someone's attention in a video. If people had longer attention spans when it came to youtube videos I would have said all the things you expanded on. Thank you for understanding exactly what I was trying to get across and expanding on it so eloquently here. I'm honored to be one of your favorites and to be featured on your blog. :)

ReplyDeleteYou're 100% welcome:)
Completely agree ;D
ReplyDeleteI know I am only interested in what I am doing most of the time just like everyone else. Although in a way that is how people are now being brought up? They are being made to think that Justin Bieber's haircut is important and then the really important things are just put aside :/
